Success Story
Batman's Good Food
Tulsa, OK
Batman's Good Food has slashed their electric bill by roughly $4,000 per year. By year 10, they'll have recouped around $40,000 in profits that would've otherwise been spent on energy use.
From time to time, we’re presented with business opportunities that are just too much of a no-brainer to say no to.
For Mike Lee and Batman’s Good Food in Tulsa, OK, that happened when NRM’s Energy Advisor paid him a visit and educated him about the opportunities in the PSO Small Business program.
The PSO Small Business program is one of many around the country that offer incentives for energy efficiency projects, in a way to “buy back” power to disperse across the grid (there’s only so many new power plants that can be built).
NRM’s specialty in the program is walk-in and display coolers. Our controls optimize runtimes for better performance, and our equipment hardware upgrades refresh common 10+ year-old refrigeration systems. In some cases, like for Mr. Lee, we can even upgrade in-cooler fluorescent bulbs to high-efficiency LEDs.
For the month of April, for example, his cooling system only needed to run 40% of the time to maintain temperatures, and the fans 58% of the time (opposed to 100% pre-optimization).
All told, the improvements recoup about $4,000 in utility costs every year compared to doing nothing.
And to top it off, the generous incentive from PSO gave Mr. Lee a 1.5 year payback on his investment.
